
Sushma Swaraj Former External Affairs minister death Live Updates: Emotional PM and Top Leaders Pay Homage
Ms. Sushma Swaraj expired with a cardiac arrest at Delhi’s All India Institute Of Medical Sciences hospital at the age of 67.
Political leaders of all parties, as well as people of India on social media, showed shock and sadness at her unexpected death. President of India Ram Nath Kovind and Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu yesterday visited Ms. Swaraj’s home at central Delhi’s Jantar Mantar Road to pay their homage and they associated with her husband Swaraj Kaushal and other family members.
Ms. Sushma’s body will be placed at the BJP party office in Delhi from 12 noon to 3 pm. After that, the Sushma’s body will be carried to the Lodhi Road crematorium for the last rituals. Prime Minister N.Modi is assumed to attend her last rituals.
Amongst other VIPs in India who came to Ms. Sushma’s home, to pay their homage were, former UP Chief Minister and BSP Party chief Mayawati, former Kerala CM Oommen Chandy and yoga guru Ramdev Baba.
Reminiscing the veteran iron lady, Indian Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, in a tweet yesterday night, stated that a “glorious chapter in Indian politics has come to an end”.
Ms. Sushma was one of the veteran woman leaders of the BJP party. Ms. Sushma Swaraj leaves a bequest of an easily-reachable politician who assisted the Indian expatriates in trouble with her quick reply on Twitter to their appeals for assistance when she was the foreign minister of India. Even boring or joking requests brought an answer from Swaraj.
The 67-year-old Sushma Swaraj had not been managing well recently, That is the reason why she had not nominated for the Lok Sabha election beginning of this year and opted out of Prime Minister Modi’s 2019 government. Few hours before Sushma’s death, Ms. Sushma had tweeted praising PM Narendra Modi over the journey of the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation proposal in the parliament.
